Olive oil producing countries

During the last campaign a total of 47 countries produced olive oil. Spain is still the world's largest producer of olive oil, with more than half of world production and far from the second producer which is Italy.
In Europe, 78% of the world's olive oil is produced, thanks to the countries of the Mediterranean region where the olive trees are predominantly grown.
The producing countries have always been the biggest consumers of olive oil, and in fact they still are, although consumption in Asia, the United States and Australia is on the increase.
